Description:
This split unites two distinct yet complementary visions of ritual black metal: Grógaldr and Äkth Gánahëth. Together, they present black metal as invocation and threshold — sound used to summon, bind, and confront forces beyond the mundane.
Grógaldr offers spell-bound compositions steeped in Norse ritualism, where hypnotic repetition, measured pacing, and austere riffing evoke ancient incantations spoken into cold air. Atmosphere is ceremonial and focused, emphasizing trance and intent over speed or excess.
Äkth Gánahëth counters with a more arcane and hostile approach — abrasive textures, venomous vocals, and oppressive density that feel like rites performed in sealed chambers. The sound is claustrophobic and confrontational, channeling occult pressure rather than narrative.
As a whole, the split functions as a dual ritual: one side invoking through tradition and spellcraft, the other enforcing through malice and confinement. It’s black metal as practice, not performance — deliberate, severe, and immersive.
